Matthew John Markling Appointed to the Lakewood Community Recreation and Education Commission

On August 21, 2017, the Lakewood City School District Board of Education unanimously appointed Matthew John Markling as a commissioner to the Lakewood Community Recreation and Education Commission (“CREC”), which is a seven member, volunteer, governing body of all programs sponsored by the Lakewood Community Recreation and Education Department of the Lakewood City School District Board of Education. Mr. Markling was appointed to fill the unexpired term of longtime CREC Commissioner Steven M. Ott.

Prior to being appointed to the CREC, Mr. Markling served three years as a commissioner on the Youth Athletic Commission. As a CREC commissioner, Mr. Markling is dedicated to working collaboratively to provide direction and innovative ideas to the Community Recreation and Education Department that will meet the needs of the youth community and ensure growth, access, continuous learning opportunities and safe enjoyment of the community recreation and education resources. And Mr. Markling is also dedicated to working collaboratively with his fellow CREC commissioners to create an environment which will provide a well-rounded, positive experience for the City of Lakewood’s youth participants through education and recreation opportunities that will enhance the community at large.
