The Ohio Department of Health Issues New School Quarantine Guidance

The Ohio Department of Health released updated school quarantine guidance this week. The guidance provides additional quarantine options for schools termed “Mask to Stay” and “Test to Play”. These options are voluntary for schools to adopt.

The “Mask to Stay” option provides guidance as to students who have had direct contact with an individual who has COVID-19 and allows them to remain in the classroom environment so long as they follow the steps set forth in the guidance.

The “Test to Play” option provides guidance as to asymptomatic students who have had direct contact with an individual who has COVID-19 and allows them to participate in extracurricular activities so long as they follow the steps set forth in the guidance.

The guidance also sets forth additional information regarding same-day testing for athletic competitions.
