EEOC Files Racial Harassment Lawsuits Against Three Employers

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (“EEOC”) has filed three racial harassment lawsuits against Pennsylvania and West Virginia employers based on the employers violating federal law by subjecting their African American employees to racially hostile work environments.

The companies used racial slurs, threatened violence against African American workers, and made other racially offensive statements which created such hostility. The alleged conduct violates Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which protects employees against discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, and religion.
