On September 9, 2021, the Biden administration announced a comprehensive national strategy aimed at combating COVID-19 in the United States. The six-prong plan, which is entitled “Path out of the Pandemic” has a strong focus on vaccine requirements, specifically in educational settings.
One main strategy that the plan is set to implement is requiring all employers with 100 or more employees to require vaccinations or require unvaccinated employees to produce a negative COVID test result each week.
Regarding educational settings, the plan requires all staff in Head Start and Early Head Start programs to be vaccinated. The plan also calls on all states to adopt vaccine requirements for all school employees and to set up regular testing in schools for students, teachers, and staff. The administration is taking a number of other measures to ensure schools can remain open during the 2021-2022 school year.
